Village Voice's Description
Don't be discouraged by the unprepossessing exterior, which looks like your typical Brooklyn bodega. The place is actually an ambitious Peruvian restaurant with a full menu. Sure you can get the usual spice-rubbed rotisserie chicken (damn good!), but why not explore the menu, which has a particular penchant for seafood. Jalea is a massive pile of fried sea creatures, including mussels, squid, blue crab, baby octopi, and chunks of corvine--Peru's favorite fish--strewn with pickled purple onions and toasted corn kernels. The plain fried porgy is substantial and cheap, but if the weather is warm, consider the mussels ceviche.
