Description

Village Voice's Description

Jamaican patty purveyor Christie's has leapfrogged across Flatbush Avenue, deserting Park Slope for Prospect Heights. Luckily, the patties are still superb–coarse textured, slightly spicy, and herb laced. Note the chicken is slightly better than the beef. Also check out the arcane line of baked goods, including bulla cake, potato pudding, hardo bread, and the chunky and gingery coconut drops, made with fresh coconut. There are also full meals, including a great curry goat, sans veggies, and an unexpectedly wonderful chicken stew. And you may want to stay and eat, because Christie's now has tables and chairs!

Freshly baked Jamaican patties and other quick-service way better than the New York average. Good for eating on the run.

On a budget and have a hankering for authentic Jamaican fare? Come here for large, flaky Jamaican patties for $2 each. Try callaloo loaf.
