Chola Eclectic Indian Cuisine
New York, NY 10022
Village Voice's Description
The competition for best Indian buffet boiled down to two places. Chola cops the prize (runner-up: Utsav), not only for the excellence and fecundity of its meat and poultry, and its willingness to offer items outside the standard Mughal canon, but because the waiter appeared with unexpected freebies at various junctures during the meal, setting down a tiny dosa, a plate of veggie fritters, and oil-brushed bread.
Tips from foursquare
The soft, fluffy naan goes perfectly with the chicken tikka masala. Get it!
Best traditional Indian fare in E Midtown has $10 lunch specials (entree+naan+dal+rice) & an excellent dine-in buffet ($14 M-Th; $15 Fri-Sun). Reservations needed esp for wkend buffet.
Kori Gassi is a different and excellent curry.
Habanero garlic naan FTW.
Best Indian lunch buffet in the city. By far. And amazing dinner selection at a reasonable price. Love!
