Chelsea International Hostel
New York, NY 10011
Village Voice's Description
This is a 350-bed hostel, so it's not fancy and you will be sharing a bathroom with strangers, but for bargain prices you will get to sleep in Chelsea, close to transportation, excellent shopping, and sights like the Empire State Building. As further incentives, there is free pizza every Wednesday night, they accept credit cards, and, unlike some other hostels, there is no curfew. All guests, however, must show a passport, so even if you are in town from New Jersey don't leave home without it.
Tips from foursquare
Affordable room with the perk of a nice, modest breakfast so you can hit the road running.
Really nice people around. Get to the common area at 8pm and hang out with the travelers - that's definitely an experience you can't miss.
If you want a clean bathroom, you have to wash by yourself, they don't wash the restrooms/bath every day :s
It's not so bad. I brought my own sheets and bottled water. I never had the continental breakfast. It does get really hot in the rooms so you should bring a small fan if you can.
Awesome place in a good, central, quiet location. I was there for a long weekend and had no problems at all -- I'd definitely stay again!
