Welcome to the Monkey House! The seating may be cramped, the volume deafening, and the dishes tiny, but the food totally rocks at this new age tapas bar, including octopi the size of a pencil eraser matched with white beans nearly as small, and a sunny-side up duck egg flopped over truffled potatoes and decorated with mojama;curls of air-cured tuna loin like ham from outer space. Vegetables cooked "a la plancha on a griddle, like those you might find in a Greek diner;are also worth considering, especially the brussels sprouts and the balsamic-glazed parsnips. Bring an expert to negotiate the Spanish wine list.

    Lovely small café with excellent tapas, right off Union Square. The razor clams were delicious, possibly the highlight, but everything was so good. The patatas bravas, though of course de rigeur for any tapas place, stood out in their excellence.
