Village Voice's Description

Just off the lobby of the Grand Union Hotel, Captain's Café is successor to Tony's Burgers, and the preparation method remains the same: The big pink patty is first par-cooked on the griddle, then thrust onto the flame grill, resulting in a luscious product with a smoky taste. Order "deluxe" for an extra $1.25, and be inundated with well-browned fries.

3 eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast for $5.95. That can't really be beat in Manhattan.

Decided to eat here this morning after getting a cup of coffee. The food is "home-cooked" and hearty porportions! 8 pieces of bacon is unheard of. Once again, the staff here is super friendly:-)

A cozy little place. The owners are beautiful and nice people who are extremely hospitable to their customers. Food is very good and inexpensive. Morning breakfast sandwiches are delicious!

Great food, huge portions, great prices and an incredibly friendly staff. They treat everyone like gold and their regulars like family. Plus.... BACON!

Chicken gyro and fries... OR the chicken kabob salad is amazing. Mmmm
