Description

Village Voice's Description

The premises of the Beer Garden at Bohemia Hall in Astoria are strictly old-worldaa narrow, wood-appointed barroom with signs in Czech; beer pulls squirting delicious imported brands like Staropramen and Crystal; and a handbill listing bar snacks of headcheese, goulash, and tripe soup. But the barroom empties out into a spacious walled garden, often jammed with a multi-ethnic and intergenerational crowd including babies, bikers, working stiffs, hipsters, and grandmas of every race undulating to Czech hip-hop. Bohemia, indeed!

Open 91 years, this is the granddaddy of NY beer gardens. Leafy "Bohemka," as Czech expats call it, packs up to 1,000 beer swillers on warm days. Don't miss the dumplings and Staropramen lager.
