Village Voice's Description

Bill"s Bar & Burger surfed into town on a tidal wave of hype, and the actual burger can"t live up to the reputation that precedes it. Nevertheless, it"s a good burger of the bar-food type, a hand-formed meat patty, flavorful but crumbly, glistening with grease but paradoxically a bit dry. Never mind, the tomato, pickles, raw purple onions, and "secret sauce" (tastes like barbecue sauce mixed with mayo) redeem it. The burgers come in six simple configurations, all priced around $6. Skip the fat-drenched and bready onion rings in favor of the fries. If you need a trans-fat-charge, go with the disco fries, sopped with gravy and "cheese food product," as Whiz and its ilk are officially known.

This place boasts a $5.50 burger and offers unique burger varieties and features 5 specialty shakes (including Oreo, peanut butter banana, coffee and berry; $7) that can be boozed up.

Danny, the cute ex-hockey player turned bartender, no longer works here. Don't embarrass yourself by asking about him.
