Village Voice's Description

Ignore the hype about this celeb-owned speakeasy and just enjoy the spacious, bi-level bar, if you can find it. (Hint: The entrance is marked by a sign for the Lower East Side Toy Company.) Surprisingly, the Back Room looks like an upscale hotel, with crimson-and-gold furniture and crystal chandeliers. And, in a campy nod to Prohibition, drinks are served in double-handled teacups, and on a recent evening, beer bottles arrived in surreptitious-looking brown paper bags.

This is a great place to go to start the night off right. It's a little pricy but the atmosphere is worth it. Nice speakeasy, dimly lit and the drinks are served in teacups and mason jars. Fun time!!

Winter time + midweek + Backroom + fireplace = one of the better spots on a cold night in Lower East Side (backup plan: fireplace @ The Delancey). Just watch out for the dbags!

cool speakeasy bar. there's no sign, you go down the stairs and the entrance is at the back of the building. there's a secret room behind a bookshelf. fridays and saturdays are 25+ to enter.

This place really cares about environment, cups/mugs for all drinks, bags for all bottles, really pushing the speakeasy persona, good crowd, reasonable prices, great ambience, nice couches

This spot is trendy cool, but charging $8 a teacup of $9 a bottle wine is far too greedy in my taste. Any place taking advantage of its customers in this manner is not anywhere I want to be.

This place blows. The tea cups aren't even tea cups. Their coffee mugs, and why the fuck would I want to drink my cocktail out of a mug?
