Village Voice's Description

Making spectacular use of an inherited wood-burning oven, August presents a greatest hits of greasy, garlicky, salty European food, including guinea hen cooked under a brick, deep-fried-and-festooned-with-flaky-French-sea-salt fritters called panisse, and the deceptively simple-sounding green-onion bulbs with romesco sauce. In doing so, they put to shame the city's barbecues-and maybe the porn industry, too-with their clever deployment of wood.

My perfect neighborhood brunch spot. You must try the baked eggs with fresh tomato and basil, German pancakes, or crisp Swiss potato with Gravlox. -Gail Simmons, Top Chef

The tiny, French-inspired dining room and adorable garden are perfect accents to this humble favorite. Each dish is a masterpiece - we especially recommend the olive-oil-poached char with crayfish.

let chef frosilone, formerly bouley & hearth, cook for you, gnocchi, roasted sturgeon w braised lamb, perfect agnolotti, & his sirloin is so good. order from the wood burning oven and sit in the back

    The BEST french fries!

The Challah Bread French Toast...amazing. As is the rest of the brunch menu in this quaint restaurant in the West Village. And our store is across the street!
