Village Voice's Description

This eatery, located in the former commissary of the still-active Kaufman Astoria Studios, is a throwback to the moviemaker's glory days. The menu of American classics is conceptually interesting, and a few of the offerings, like the oysters Rockefeller and beef Stroganoff, make a case for totally passé eats. Unfortunately, owner Chris Vlacich fails to re-create the unbridled bliss of the Roaring '20s, largely due to the office-like décor. Some natural light filters in, but the subterranean space borders on depressing.

For that "old New York glory" feeling order up the Queen's Road (Gold rum, OJ, honey syrup, ginger, and bitters) inside this supper club housed what was formerly the Paramount Pictures' commissary.

  • Time Out New York on 02/01/12

Romance your companion over a cocktail at this old-fashioned space. Try the Fairbanks (gin, dry vermouth, grenadine and apricot brandy) and enjoy nostalgic dishes like oysters Rockefeller.

a 1920s revival complete with Art-Deco decor, nightly live music, a mahogany bar, classic drinks, and a menu that begs you to order nightly specials like chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy.
