Village Voice's Description

Love him or hate him, no can accuse famous restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow (FoodParc, China Grill and many, many more) of being too subtle. Asia de Cuba, located in the Morgans Hotel, is an ode to excess, an over-the-top spectacle of the highest degree. Designed by Philippe Starck, this two-story behemoth features a 25-foot-tall, illuminated picture of a flowing waterfall, which ends at the base of an incredibly long communal table. Back-lit, glowing white curtains separate the other tables, surrounding pristine white banquettes that seat suited men and high-heeled ladies. As the name would suggest, the kitchen mixes Asian and Latin American influences. Lobster pad Thai, Cuban barbecue chicken and hoisin roast duck all share space on the menu. Penny pinchers need not be discouraged by the substantial prices; the daily happy hour in the bar and lounge area (5pm to 8pm) offers $8 specialty cocktails and small plates, while diners get 50 percent off all bottles of wine during Sunday dinner service.—Keith Wagstaff

trendy, fun place to go with group of friends.. love the crispy calamari salad, beef or lobster potstickers, and the glazed pork.. If you go with a big group of people get the bay of pigs for dessert.. The name says it all..lol.. the coconut cake is also very, very good..

Order the calamari salad (banana, cashews, hearts of palm, and radicchio) but make sure you bring a friend because it's meant to be shared. The coconut martinis are equally amazing.

Calamari salad is out of this world, but what makes it better is the coconut cake for dessert. Portions are big so come hungry!
