Village Voice's Description

Little girls squeal at the mention of their favorite doll store, American Girl, a place that ropes parents in with its multi-ethnic doll collection and doll accessories ranging from snowboarder outfits to skin care kits. Each doll has a story written about its lifeaa story the store's young patrons often know by heart. The store begins to feel slightly cultish when you watch kidsa eyes glaze over upon entering this netherworld, where dolls can get their hair cut, take part in a fashion show, and are welcome to ateaa at the on-site cafA(c).
