Village Voice's Description

5 & Diamond"s new American fare skews toward bright, light flavors and seasonal produce, with the welcome additions of a drippy burger and a few other lipid-soaked pleasures. We loved raw fish dish made from swatches of yellowtail belly on nubs of tempura-fried watermelon radish, dressed with salty black-bean vinaigrette. Most dishes here are relatively conventional, but tweaked smartly--as in a pork loin dish with pickled blueberries and asparagus puree. If you want over-the-top, order the drippy burger and a side of mind-bendingly rich mac-and-cheese.

Tips from foursquare

  • Metromix on 03/25/10

See the valiant return of Ryan Skeen. Fresh pastas, funky charcuterie and mains featuring well-sourced cuts sauced with the precision of a Café Boulud vet.

  • Serious Eats on 08/30/13

I didn't think I'd live to see a piece of properly grilled medium-rare Salmon in Harlem. The fish is fresh, tender, and moist enough to excuse the shortcomings of its accompaniments

  • Gilt City on 05/31/11

A native of Valencia, Spain, Chef David Martinez has a knack for spicing up traditional dishes with inspired touches. Don't miss out on the wings, which are drizzled in a sweet mango chipotle.

Delicious New American food. Go for the 5 at 5 menu where everything is $5 – even the delicious Mac & Cheese and Duo of Sliders! Wash it down with a Spiced Pear Bellini.

This cozy bistro/tavern is quaint, and probably my favorite secluded spot for eats in Harlem.
