Inside, this family-owned Chinese restaurant in Central Phoenix is alive with authentic, flavorful Cantonese fare courtesy of Jian Yu, who was a chef in his hometown of Kaiping, a city in the Guangdong province in southern China, for over 32 years. Forget the Americanized menu and value buffet and ask for the Chinese menu, where slow-simmered soups, tangled nests of expertly prepared stir-fried noodles, and moist and marinated meats await. Start with the salt-and-pepper chicken wings, then move on to wonderfully tender black pepper beef filet, curry powder covered Singapore rice noodles, or Yu’s specialty: the clay pot. Where anything from tender beef brisket and daikon, to mutton and bean curd, to curly strands of pork stomach arrives as a boiling and highly flavorful form of Chinese comfort food.
