Description

Chef/owner Nick Badovinus" aim in establishing Neighborhood Services Tavern, a playful offshoot of his popular Neighborhood Services on Lovers" Lane, was to create a casual hangout where area residents could get together-and not be subjected to the standard pub-grub menu of mozzarella sticks and canned beer. While Badovinus isn"t above serving cheeseburgers and fried fish, the gastro-pub doesn"t stint on sophistication: The imaginative cocktails are mixed with made-from-scratch syrups and fresh fruit, and a three-meat ragout is topped with in-house ricotta.

Neighborhood Services Tavern has a good thing going with New York import and general manager Jason Kosmas. He knows cocktails--from muddling to infusions, from classics to innovative recipes. In a restaurant where the food is notoriously top-notch, drinks should be just as good. Seems like common sense, but it's not often accomplished as deftly as by Kosmas' hand.
