Naviya's Brasserie is the fourth Minnesota restaurant of Naviya La Barge and her husband, Kim, and it's tailor made for its Linden Hills locale. The prices are higher than most mom & pop Thai eateries, but in return, there are naturally raised meats, wine and beer lists, and a chic dining room that's light-filled and serene, with high ceilings and pretty purple banquettes. Naviya has given herself more creative license on the brasserie menu so you'll see, say, non-traditional Thai vegetables such as cauliflower appear in some dishes, but they're expertly cooked to stay crisp and a little smoky. The pad Thai is one of the best executions in town, its noodles light, springy, and non-greasy. Pair it with an order of curry and you've got a great Lake Harriet picnic.
