  • Description

N. Scott Momaday is an artist of words and pictures. While he's celebrated for his written work "House Made of Dawn," the Native American author is also a playwright, illustrator, and poet, whose work has won a Pulitzer Prize and has been credited with ushering Native American literature into the American mainstream.

Momaday blends his love and talent for the visual and contextual to create bodies of work in both fields that often complement each other. Such is the case with "Art and Poetry," a showcase of Momaday's work at Heard Museum, 2301 North Central Avenue. The exhibition features a collection of his writings that are paired with a series of his paintings and monoprints that will be on view in the museum through Sunday, June 23.
