Description

The polish of Eric and Sophie Banh's Vietnamese cuisine at Monsoon may have caught Seattle by surprise a decade ago, but with Monsoon East the pair greet Bellevue with a confident swagger. The room's gorgeous, the wine list marked way up, and the servers have each table locked in their sights. Monsoon East's menu remains a larger copy of the original, though: same beef luc lac and claypot catfish, same sustainably raised meats and farmers market veg. Unfortunately, the highs and lows seem to swing far more wildly than they did at the original. What is reliably exquisite is M2's Vietnamese sashimi, such as Kona kampachi slices adorned with shrimp salt, sugared lime juice, and fine threads of rau ram (Vietnamese cilantro).
