The people behind the Om Records music label, Black Pancakes vinyl emporium, and other local culture outlets have taken over this two-level nightclub located along the Sixth Street corridor just south of Market. Expect a lot of house music to fill the vaguely steampunky space, decorated like a fancy, retro-futuristic Victorian parlor where brass horns sprout cephalopod chandeliers and pipes are bent into privacy screens.
w/ resident DJs Kimmy Le Funk, Primo, and M3
w/ James Holden, Bells & Whistles, Rich Korach, Mark Slee
A "rock-n-roll industry night" with music by DJ Jules and specials on beer, liquor, and whatever the hell Fernet Branca is supposed to be.

About Waifs & Strays:
Their debut track – 2010’s late night ‘3am’ – was rapidly snapped up for Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom imprint, and set the benchmark high for future success; featuring in DJ Mag’s essential releases, and picking up props from major players including Luciano, DJ T, Anja Schneider, dOP, Danny Tenaglia and Laurent Garnier.
The follow-up record ‘Yeah Yeah’, gathered significant international support following its debut at the last year’s Detroit Music Conference, smashing dancefloors from Fabric to Watergate. With Heidi calling it ‘the dirtiest house track I have heard in a very long time’ and featuring it on her Radio1 show, and became one of the must-have releases of 2011.
2012 saw Waifs & Strays take to the road with a hectic touring schedule around the world, with more releases on Leftroom, Futureboogie and a few remixes along the way - a path that is set to continue into 2013!

By Derek OppermanDon't believe anyone who tells you that nothing good happens after 2 a.m. in San Francisco. Stick it out past last call, and a whole freak show of hardcore partying awaits, if you know where to look. These are the places where people dance 'til 4 a.m. or later despite the lack of alcohol -- nobody cares, nobody's on it anyway. Should you seek out this carnival, the first stop on your itinerary ought to be Monarch (101 Sixth St., 284-9774, MonarchSF.com).... More »
There couldn't be a better metaphor for the state of San Francisco nightlife in 2012 than the arrival of Monarch. Starting with a bang in late 2011, the club took over the building that once housed the Room Ultra Lounge. In many ways it feels like a changing of the guard, another victory won in a subtle battle being waged against the bottle-centric venues that flourished in the noughties. At the heart of what makes Monarch so noteworthy is its custom horn-loaded Void Acoustics soundsystem,... More »
