Description

How good are the fried Brussels sprouts? So good that diners have been known to pick up the bowl and down the sauce left in the bottom. Chef David Chang, who also owns Momofuku Noodle Bar and Momofuku Ko, is the golden boy these days, and not for nothing. Ssäm means "wrap" in Korean; one section of the menu is devoted to delicious things to wrap up in lettuce--grilled pork belly, lemongrass pork sausage or an entire braised pork butt, served with kimchi and a dozen oysters. The lunch specials, like bibimbap with shredded Berkshire pork and kimchi purée or bahn mi sandwiches, are a good deal, and come with the house-made pickles.

Dish No. 77: Rotisserie Duck Lunch at Momofuku Ssam Bar

Duck is the new pork, blah blah blah. Whatever, we've been into quackers since we first read Make Way for Ducklings. OK, maybe we didn't eat them back then. But duck has been our fave protein for ... More »

  • 2010 | Best Cocktail Trend

Here's where the food pyramid gets interesting. The USDA says we need to consume three to five servings of vegetables a day. So when the evening rolls around and your veggie intake consists of potato chips and tomato sauce on a slice, an increasing number of the city's restaurant bars have got you covered. Vegetable cocktails were long the domain of Hendrick's ("Waiter, there's a cucumber in my gin!"), but piggybacking off the popularity of the long, green gourd (actually a fruit),... More »
