Description

Formerly a dumpy, old-fashioned kosher dining room, this seriously spruced-up space became an instant neighborhood hit after reopening as a Chinese/sushi spot. The food is still kosher, but the vibe is modern - sometimes even playful, as pastrami egg rolls attest. Typical of kosher eateries, prices are a bit higher than at average neighborhood Chinese restaurants. But budget diners will find lunch specials a far better value than average - with a choice of fried or brown rice as well as white; a zesty and substantial hot-and-sour soup, along with standard egg drop and wonton, among starter options; and entrées that include not only cheap egg foo yuck type of stuff, but also some of the regular menu's premium-priced chef's specials (like tasty, tender orange beef).
