Minnesota's Greatest Generation: The Depression, The War, The Boom

If the hardest of minerals can only be created under the most extreme of pressure, perhaps our Greatest Generation could only be forged in the toughest of times. In a project that the National Endowment for the Humanities suggested "may establish a model for history museums throughout the United States," the Minnesota History Center brings us "Minnesota's Greatest Generation." The multimedia exhibit spans the life of the generation that survived the Depression, fought in World War II, and flourished in the postwar years. In addition to the daily offerings of artifacts and interactive displays that center on local people, "Minnesota's Greatest Generation" also features workshops on preserving your family's history, musical performances, roundtables, plays, lectures, and a wealth of other family-friendly activities. It's an event where the viewer not only observes history, but also truly becomes a part of it.
