City Pages' Description
This family-run eatery has been serving lunch-counter classics--meatloaf, sardine sandwiches, apple pie, and vegetable soup--since 1914. The regulars are legion (Barbara Flanagan has her own booth) as are the memories (Bill Clinton's 1995 visit; Rudy Giuliani's in 2008). The booths and barstools evoke a bygone era and the longtime waitresses are the sort that might address a customer as "hon." After surviving multiple moves and a recent closing, Peter's has proved there's still a hunger for tradition.
