Marrakech Moroccan Cafe and Grill
Minneapolis, MN 55418
City Pages's Description
True, Marrakech Moroccan Cafe and Grill looks nothing like romantic notions of the ancient Berber city with its striking adobe architecture, towering palm trees, and vibrant marketplace. In fact, Central Avenue's little bit of Morocco looks more like a McDonald's, with its squint-inducing florescent lights and red plastic ketchup bottles on the tables. But the casual café is one of the few local spots to offer Moroccan home cooking. Start with the couscous, which is characteristically fluffy and buttery, or one of the tagines. The kefta tagine is a classic, consisting of Moroccan-style meatballs cooked with eggs in a cumin-laced tomato sauce, is just as good and might be equally welcome at breakfast as dinner.
Tips from foursquare
The bistella is a sweet, savory, and exquisite treat. However, availability is spotty, so call ahead to check if you're set on it.
Alas, they are closed :(
The bread is amazing! Fresh, buttery and very yummy.
