Description

City Pages' Description

For all the diversity Uptown accommodates, the neighborhood notably underserves the sports buff: no bona fide sports bar exuding jock-strap-snapping machismo. Perhaps Lyndale Tap House, in the former jP space at Lyn-Lake, will fill the void, with its lengthy beer list, meat-heavy menu, flat-screen TVs, and pinup-girl photos on the walls. The Lyndale's pit beef, a Baltimore-style preparation in which top round is rubbed with spices then slow-cooked over an oak-fired grill, can be inconsistent, though at its best, it's an uncomplicated delight of beef, onions, and a horseradish sauce tucked into a slightly sweet, cake-tender bun. Otherwise, there's not a lot too remarkable about the menu, except that it's a step up from what you'd expect from a place with so many TVs.

The pretzels. They’re original, they’re house-made, and they’re dead on.

  • Mpls.St.Paul Magazine on 03/11/11

Try the Hard Cider French Toast. A Cinnamon-battered baguette is mounded with caramely apples, sugared pecans, a whomping of maple whipped cream, and hard cider toffee sauce.
