Description

City Pages' Description

Mexican fast food can get a bad rap, but there's nothing like a freshly made taco or burrito as a quick comfort meal. El Taco Riendo offers more than a dozen varieties of tacos (at $2.10 an order), along with burritos, tamales, chimichangas, and even a full plate of nachos. If you're looking for a more complete meal, combination plates include traditionally prepared beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp dishes along with rice, beans, and tortillas. ($8.50 to $12). If you're feeding a bigger group, you can get carry-out of meats, rice, and beans by the pound.

I've been going to this place for two years and can't figure out why it hasn't been discovered. It is truly wonderful, the tacos are great but the burritos--carnitas my favorite--are the best I've had in the Twin Cities. Bravo for City Pages for finding this and rating it Numbero Uno.

Tips from foursquare

  • Heavy Table on 08/02/09

The tinga de pollo taco – shredded chicken spiced with smoky chipotle pepper and tomato sauce – is near perfection here.

  • Ryan J. on 10/25/11

Probably the best chimichanga I've ever had. Enough for lunch and dinner!

  • Todd H. on 10/31/10

    Try the Torta de Cubana.

  • Dawn L. on 09/21/11

OH GOD, they have good food!

  • METRO magazine on 05/23/12

Any authentic taqueria in the Twin Cities should serve up a solid al pastor taco, but El Taco Riendo;s is especially nice - lipstick red, tangy and garnished with a few pineapple slices.
