Description

City Pages' Description

What elevates a simple candy maker into an artisanal chocolatier? Hand-craftsmanship, extra TLC, and an instinct for balancing scent and flavor. These are the same characteristics that mark Mary Leonard’s velvety truffles and bon bons, the artistry of which creates a treat for all the senses. Tucked into a brick business complex at Interstate 280 and University, Chocolate Celeste is a little hard to find, but worth the effort. Leonard uses the finest of ingredients--locally sourced whenever possible--and carefully monitors the cooking temperature when creating perfect chocolate crystals for the snap you get with only the finest chocolates. She is also expert at adding the unexpected, like craft beer, florals, or a hit of chili pepper for added spark.
