City Pages' Description
When it comes to authentic deli fare, Cecil's is the place, from the potato latkes on the griddle to the celery soda in the refrigerator case. Cecil & Faye Glickman established the delicatessen in 1949 (they later added the family-friendly restaurant in back) and the operation is still old-school enough to serve chopped liver. The hot pastrami on rye is divine and the Reubens are even better, which would make them, well, one of the holiest foods around.
Tips from foursquare
Get your Hamantaschen here year-round (not just at Purim). The triangle-shaped pastry, tells the story of Esther from the Torah.
Fucking ENORMOUS pie!!!
Latkes that make you wish your grandma was Jewish.
Pastrami and shmear will send you straight to Yahweh.
This is my very first stop when I come to Minnesota. The Sasha on a toasted kaiser roll is delish! Try the hammentashins.
