The Mine Shaft, located along the lively Broadway Corridor in Long Beach, is a popular gay bar-though everyone is welcome. With its casual atmosphere, cozy wood décor, friendly bartenders and affordable drinks, it's easy to see why the establishment draws an eclectic mix of longtime patrons known affectionately as "repeat offenders." It's also a beacon for tourists from outlying regions who revel in the city's yearly Pride Festival. Mine Shaft features a full bar, two pool tables, dart boards, video games and a smoking patio. Happy hour is every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., when domestic beers go for $2 and imported beer and well drinks for $3. DJs spin on Friday nights, but bands perform Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., when pitchers cost only $4. But be sure to go to an ATM beforehand-it's a cash-only place.
