Description

Across the street from the grand, photogenic Research NYPL, the Mid-Manhattan branch (the largest circulating collection in the city) looks surprisingly sad and exhausted. Like any (bloated) high school library, the carpets are colorless and pee-stained, and the books are stacked on rolling carts. Don't come here looking for romance.

    THIS IS MY SANCTUARY GLAD THEY DIDN'T SHUT DOWN TO 3 DAYS A WEEK GLAD OUR LETTERS E-MAILS AND DONATIONS KEPT THEM OPEN 6 DAYS A WEEK AS USUAL. WHY WOULD THE CITY WANT TO CUT THIS BENEFICIAL SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE?

    Search the database on-line, and it is likely any research materials one needs will be available. Next door to Bryant Park (where I eat my packed lunch on library days.) Interesting themed exhibits - attractive shop. I am referencing the library at 42nd and Fifth Avenue - the address above is for a circulating branch.
