Miami New Times' Description

Yardbird's appeal borrows from other factors beyond the buoyant bill of fare. The farmhouse décor, American blues music, and overall ambiance are synchronized with the Southern American fare to the extent of enhancing the meals like some secret seasoning. Chef/partner Jeff McInnis and chef de cuisine Phillip Bryant hit all the right notes with their menu of "small shares" and "big shares." Delectable successes include buttermilk biscuits; Brunswick stew with alligator sausage and smoked rabbit; sweet tea-brined barbecued ribs; shrimp and grits; and Llewellyn's Southern fried chicken with a cheddar-and-chow-chow waffle and citrus-splashed watermelon -- the best fried chicken in town. Craft bourbons, beers, and wines are all-American, and service is sharp. Beer, bourbon, blues, and Southern American fare, at an affordable price point, in a fetching farmhouse environment. Yardbird is a distinct and integrated vision completely realized.

The food was delicious but yes expensive (I guess they gotta pay that Lincoln Rd rent) - the shrimp & grits were very good, fried green tomato BLT was ridiculous, but the fried chicken, waffles and watermelon was something special . . . chase it with a craft bourbon, they have some tasty spirits in this place, but yes it is not cheap

Listen, folks: the wunderkind from the panhandle is pure hype. At $26 (yes, you read that correctly), the fried chicken is nothing special -- I'll take Popeye's any day. The $14 "chicken biscuits" -- all two of them -- were fine, but again, you can't seriously tell me that's an acceptable price (you get two for $5 at Chick-a-Fil-a). Is the ambience great? Yes. Drinks good? Yep.... More >>

Started by Top Chef-er Jeff McInnis, this bar plates comfort food like sweet tea-brined ribs soaked in BBQ and pickled chilies. Their fried chicken with citrus pepper watermelon is the jam.

Mama's Chicken Biscuit is the way to go! Also, don't forget to try the Sweet Tea, it is amazing! - twitter.com/LincolnScoop

Yardbird opened as an immediate success with everyone flocking for fried chicken and green tomatoes, washed down with a bourbon concoction. [EAter 38 Member]

Not use to bourbon cocktails? No sweat, try the Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade.

Pre-meal, hop onto a repurposed tractor seat cum bar stool and dig into the spicy Pimento cheese jar, and wrap up the meal with a scoop of NutterButter ice cream.
