Description

Miami New Times' Description

There's no shortage of Irish pubs in Miami, but surprisingly there is only one in South Miami, and the owners of Irish Times seem intent on making up for quantity with quality. They've given the stand-alone building, which over the years has housed numerous eateries, a legitimate pub feel by adding wood furniture, a wood bar, and a working fireplace. And, of course, the libation list is heavy on Mick favorites: Guinness, Bass, Harper, etc. Patrons looking for all-day breakfast can indulge in an authentic meal of Irish sausage and bacon, white and black pudding (the savory kind), eggs, baked beans, fried tomato, mushrooms, and toast ($13.95). There are also has a couple of salad options, including the Dubliner - smoked salmon with pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, and goat cheese ($11.95) - and the Brian Boru ($13.95), named for the last king of Ireland and comprising a blend of lettuces with sun-dried cranberries and walnuts tossed with blue cheese dressing topped with grilled, sliced strip steak. Still, when dining at a legit Irish pub, you shant stray too far from the favorites: homemade shepherd's pie ($14.95), beef and Guinness stew ($14.95), and fish 'n' chips ($15.95).This pub and eatery in South Miami offers weekday happy-hour specials, Hurricanes football watch parties, and NFL Sunday deals. Food is served until 4 a.m. UM students make up the bulk of the crowd, and the jukebox offers a sweet selection of tunes.

Went with some friends here around midnight on a bar crawl and the place was a TOTAL buzz kill. We'd entered in great spirits but left grumbling and frustrated... Someone in the management at the Irish Times missed the memo on what an IRISH bar is supposed to be like.

They have malt vinegar here, as any self respecting pub should.

If you don't like beer their cider is a GREAT alternative!!! Thats the only thing I drink there!!!

  • Eric P. on 12/25/09

Less than average bar food. Makes up for it in quality draft beer.

Always the last stop before going home.
