Description

Miami New Times' Description

It's often the tiniest of places that go unnoticed for months. Then someone stumbles across them, loves them, and spreads the word so much that the little spaces become booming hot spots. That is exactly what happened to La Latina, a "new" areperia on NE Second Avenue, just east of midtown. Five months after La Latina set up shop, we decided to spread the word about the fantastic, health-conscious Venezuelan joint that has since become a favorite local hot spot. Cheese and sweet plantain empanadas ($3.95), pabellon empanadas ($3.95), and pelua arepas (5.95) are made with 100 percent gluten-free cornflour and meats that are antibiotic- and hormone-free. It's not to say the place screams Latin health food; it's more of an undertone like, "Hey, we have great food, and it's not bad for you."

The pabellon empanada has everything that's good about Latin American flavors! It's a really stacked little snack!

Order the arrrepa dominó ($5.95).Get an empanada de pabellón, filled with beef, black beans, and cheese. Did you know they make arepas and empanadas stuffed with sweet plantains?

Food quality is very bad.....service is horrible. Go to Doggies & More on Coral Way (close to Brickell) or the Coral Gables location....
