Miami New Times' Description

Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar & Latam Grill is a mouthful to pronounce, yet a more definitive name would have been Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar, Latam Grill & Mexican Restaurant. Now all you need to know is Latam stands for Latin American and you pretty much have the lowdown on this place. The spoon bar represents a modest display of half a dozen ceviches for $1.75 per ceramic spoonful (about two little bites and sips -- or one big gulp). A couple of good ones: Citrus-juiced tiger shrimp flecked with avocado, jalapeño, jicama, and a hot drizzle of guajillo chili oil; and minced swordfish bathed in spicy, bright yellow aji amarillo. Mex selections are satisfying: a duo of tamales, one with shrimp and another with pulled chicken in salsa verde. "Midwestern corn-fed USDA choice" steaks include four American cuts (rib eye, New York strip, T-bone, and tenderloin) in ten- or fourteen-ounce portions, and Latin specialties (palomilla, falda, and churrasco) weighing between eight and twelve ounces. Chicken, shrimp, and a pork "porterhouse" are also tossed onto the grill, and all are accompanied by a choice of chimichurris and salsas.

If you're looking for a great cocktail, order the Caipirinha Ipanema and make sure to tell them to make it with Sagatiba Pura (the best brazilian rum on the market).

  • Epicurious on 08/23/10

The menu here is incredibly diverse and features foods from around South America including elements from Peru, Mexico, Argentina, & Chile. Get guidance from the staff if you don't know where to start.

Definitely try the Caipirinha Ipanema cocktail... I bet you can't have just one.

Best ceviches: Vuelve a La Vida and Los Cabos. I loooove the mahi-mahi with papas chorreadas.

Try the new strawberry basil mojito with sagatiba!
