  1. AltaMare

1233 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139

The new AltaMare is bigger, busier, and better than the old Alta Mar, which itself was no slouch. The classically elegant dining room is also better-looking. Chef Simon Stojanovic... More »

  3. La Estancia Argentina

178170 Biscayne Blvd., Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160

  6. Salmon Salmon

2907 NW Seventh St., Miami, FL 33125

  7. Nexxt Cafe

700 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Although Cheesecake Factory sued Nexxt for copycatting recipes nearly 10 years ago, Nexxt's novel-size menu and giant portions still remind us of the mall-hugging chain. Unless... More »

  9. Berries in the Grove

2884 SW 27th Ave., Coconut Grove, FL 33133

  • With present-day experimental electronic music so often divided along trendy blog lines, it's refreshing to hear a local act resurrect a genre that you don't hear too much on Hype Machine and the like: trip-hop!

That's why local three-piece Astrea Corporation is such a thrill, picking up vintage boom-bap beats and wrapping them in lush, electronic production. But the trio updates...

  • It's about 8 o'clock on a sweltering, muggy evening in the parking lot outside the Magic City Casino in Little Havana, and 20 people are in line at the Latin Burger and Taco food truck, where I'm working behind a hot stove.
