Miami New Times' Description

Many people are surprised to discover South Florida has a race track. Understandably so. We might be South, but we're not exactly Southern - and there's nothing more Southern than Nascar. The Homestead-Miami Speedway is a whopping 640-acre facility that's active more than 280 days a year. They host the annual NASCAR Championship Races during Ford Championship Weekend, plus tons of other daredevil-worthy, rubber burning events throughout the rest of the year. If you've never been, it's a bucket-list, adrenaline-pumping kind of deal.
