Ham and Eggery Diner
North Miami, FL 33162
Miami New Times' Description
Ham & Eggery is a good ol' Southern breakfast diner, down to the tiniest, quirkiest details. Expect mismatched plates, wreathes of fake flowers lining the back wall, framed vintage cereal boxes, and a Scooby Doo mystery van parked out front. Oh yeah, and the whole thing is housed in a dilapidated-looking red barn-ish structure that looks like it was time-warped from a past era. The menu is numbered as in fast-food places (numbers one through three are eggs, two through 24 are breakfast meat platters, 25 through 49 are omelets, and 50 through 74 are waffles, pancakes, and French toast). Most of the dishes are greasy-plate favorites like eggs with sides of bacon or sausage and grits ($5.49), but there are some outliers. Omelets can contain kielbasa sausage or corned beef ($6.99) for one, and a waffle sandwich ($6.99), consisting of waffle "bread" filled with butter, eggs, and bacon, is creative, if ill-advised. Coffee pots are fresh-brewed and offer unlimited refills ($1.49), and a variety of juices ($1.49 to $2.89) include tomato, grapefruit, apple, and prune. Service is generally quick and friendly, though there are some off-days.
