Miami New Times' Description

Some of the best tapas in Miami can be found in a gas-station convenience store at the corner of South Dixie Highway and SW Seventeenth Avenue. Past the shelves of motor oil, sodas, and potato chips is El Carajo. This thoroughly charming wine and tapas bar features a 2000-bottle wine list and a roster of tapas and main plates almost as extensive. Even better, wine and food are exceptional values. A bottle of wine with your meal costs retail plus ten bucks, tapas are almost all less than $10, and the $18 tabla de carne - an assortment of grilled skirt steak, lamb and pork chops, chicken breast, sausages, potatoes, and roasted peppers - will easily feed three hungry diners. Also check out the generous salpicón de mariscos and intensely garlicky gambas al ajillo; then finish with a rich, creamy guanabana flan.

Great Spanish Getaway!!! Stacked walls with WINE!

Think of flan as the more feminine version of crème brûlée. Whereas crème brûlée is dense and custardy, flan is light and eggy. Whereas crème brûlée sports a thick, brittle crust of caramelized sugar, flan sits in a shimmering, golden pool of liquid caramel. And when you think of flan, think of Miami's only tapas bar in a gas station, where you can fill your tank with unleaded... More >>

if you love wines, then you have to check this place out! They have the largest selection of rare wines ! If you can't find it anywhere, I bet you they have it! And don't mistake this one for the 57ave location....no connection and definitely no similarities! This one is quaint and definitely unique ...inside the Citgo Station on 17th Ave and US1 .....great Spanish decor and the... More >>

Don't let the location fool you - the food transports you to ancient Spain! The lobster empanadas and 1500-bottle wine list are not what you'd typically find in the back of a Citgo station.

  • JLPR on 05/25/11

This place is a hidden gem! Now open on Sundays. Best gourmet empanadas on this side of town!

We've always heard "don't judge a book by its cover" and this applies here! Some of the best tapas in Miami are found here! There is also an over 2000-bottle wine list!

This restaurant inside a citgo station has a better wine selection than most restaurants in coral gables or sobe. The owner is a true oenophile. This means u can find a grange or a latour here.

Best of Miami 2013- Best Gas Station: BP/El Carajo International Tapas & Wines. Unlike your normal local gas station, this station has a delicious secret. Enjoy yummy tapas and over 2,000 wines.
