Miami New Times' Description
Alameda Deli is Coral Way's tiny portal to Argentina. Owners Jorge Lopez and Ricardo Rodriguez have been serving an assortment of their native country's fare since 2002. Menu items include salads, sandwiches, and empanadas. Lopez says his clientele of local business types loves to order the prosciutto and fresh mozzarella sandwich ($8). It's made with fresh and simple ingredients: prosciutto di Parma, mozzarella, tomato, lettuce, and basil. Lopez's favorites are the Argentine empanadas. The carne option ($1.20) is made with hand-chopped meat. And the caprese empanada ($1.20) is stuffed with four types of cheese. In addition to the usual menu, daily lunch specials are offered for $11. The selections always include a freshly made soup and fish fillet. And alongside the eight small, white-and-blue-clothed tables stands a shelf chock full of Argentine sweets and goodies for sale. The collection includes cookies, chocolate candies, coffee, and fruit spreads. And they are all legitimately marked with Spanish labels. Patrons should know the native tongue while placing an order. Luckily for non-Spanish speakers, most menu items are numbered. So u, or will suffice.
