California Taqueria tanked and here's its replacement: a casual Mexican cafe and takeout that does a cooking school riff on standards like chile relleno and mole poblano. Move over, Rocking Horse Cafe! Try barbacoa--beef marinated in garlic and tequila, braised, shredded, scooped into a corn husk, cushioned with good Spanish rice and refried black beans. Part of the menu is devoted to not-as-Mexican salads, which are fine nonetheless. Dig the purple interior and colorful plastic tablecloths.
