A classic pizza shop with a variety of unique pizzas, Mesa serves pizza by the slice for $2 for a single topping or $3 for the specialty. A long list of specialty pizzas are available, with a 20-inch pie running about $22. A few highlights include Tomato Feta (sliced tomatoes, marinara sauce, and feta cheese), Southwest Taco (spicy ground beef, peppers, onions, cilantro, lime juice, cheddar cheese and southwest sauce) and Buffalo Chicken (spicy chicken and creamy blue cheese). Salads are available, but alcohol is not. Mesa doesn't have daily specials, but it does deliver. It's open from 11 to 1 a.m.
Last call was at least a half-hour ago. The combination of house lights and your bartender's perturbed facial expression indicate that it's past 2 a.m. You've spent the last few hours priming your stomach with potent liquid, and you really need to supplement it with something solid if you're going to be of any use tomorrow. On a better night, you might consider those hot new Neapolitan joints in Southwest, but they closed hours ago, and no sense blowing $20 on an "artisan" drunk munchie.... More »
There's no better place in Minneapolis to capture a portrait of college life than Mesa Pizza after Dinkytown bars announce last call. Inebriated students spill into the streets around the University of Minnesota for one last hurrah, stumbling to Mesa for a warm, oversized slice of heaven. In the line that often snakes out the door, you'll find a perfect sampling of America's future. The sloppy drunks. The awkward couples who found love at Blarney's but don't want to fall into bed together on... More »

But really, with enormous slices ranging from $2 to $3 apiece, you should try at least one wacky variety. How weird? One pie comes with grilled steak, barbecue sauce, and... More »
Normally we would recommend that people stay away from novelty pizza flavors. That said, the penne pesto pizza at Mesa is actually pretty good. But if consuming pizza with penne pasta bits worked into the cheese isn't your thing, Mesa has other less adventurous but still mighty tasty pies, such as pepperoni or cheese. But really, with enormous slices ranging from $2 to $3 apiece, you should try at least one wacky variety. How weird? One pie comes with grilled steak, barbecue sauce, and French fries. Another is topped with black beans, chopped tomatoes, feta cheese, and avocados. And yes, there is actually a mac 'n' cheese pizza. It's not too bad, either. Though all pies are tasty, you might want to do either takeout or delivery; if the tiny pizza shop is busy, there's no way you'll find a place to sit.
Quick, cheap slice of pizza? This is where it is at, unique concoctions different and cool pizza. Quick, and friendly staff!
Good late-night college place. Slice - $2. I believe they also deliver.
