Description

Mercantile Coffee House isn't a place to grab a quick cup of coffee or even a moderately fast-paced cup. This downtown café uses a hand-brewing system so pokey that customers are urged to have a seat while awaiting their orders. But coffee connoisseurs swear by the Merc's Intelligentsia brand beans, and the glass-walled isolation booth in back's a boon for freelancers seeking office space. The coffee shop is equally cognizant of the needs of Main Street Garden-goers, offering frozen yogurts for people and dogs.

Museums generally have many rules: no drinking, no smoking, no photography, no loud talking, no touching, no fun. It’s a lot like elementary school — not a place where anyone necessarily wants to go, but in the end you’re glad you did. If you can ... More »
