Ensconced in a corner bar in one of Ironbound's dark side streets, McWhorter is a Portuguese churrasqueria, not to be confused with a Brazilian churrascaria. That means that, instead of guys running around in little gaucho pants flinging meat at you, you've got a chill back room where a meat wrangler turns of big hand-rotisserie over a charcoal pit, almost like Texas. From it he pulls luscious pork ribs, plump Portuguese sausages, tender perfectly done chickens, and dryish sirloin steaks. The accompanying rice and pickled veggies form the perfect accompaniments, and, besides an appetizer of garlic shrimp, the menu offers little else. Only a few blocks from the PATH train--bring a Google map.
