McMurphy's Grill began in 1990 as the first full-service restaurant for training homeless and mentally ill people. The program, which is still in operation at McMurphy's, teaches job skills that will be transferred to permanent restaurant jobs. The grill is open for lunch only and serves up a menu of soups, salads and sandwiches, with specialties including Irish stew, a corned-beef sandwich, meat loaf and eggplant Parmesan. McMurphy's also features a short list of beers and wines. Guests can dine in, carry out or order their meal for delivery.
