Located on the front lawn of the gallery Didier Hess in Silver Lake, Materials & Applications is an outdoor exhibition space that puts up new installations two times every year. The exhibits so far tend to play with issues important to contemporary architecture, from new materials to sustainability, alongside projects that explore the often ridiculously wonderful possibilities of the built environment. Passers-by are always amused and intrigued by this unexpected open air gallery.
Nothing better defines the perils of suburban sprawl than the front lawn.
