In the great debate over New York City lobster rolls, Mary's Fish Camp has long been the main rival to the nearby Pearl Oyster Bar. While we won't weigh in on this argument, just know that the lobster roll is pretty damn good, two buttery buns stuffed with mayo-smothered chunks of lobster and served with hot French fries. The rest of the menu consists of seafood dishes with a global influence: yellowfin tuna sliders, Peruvian tilapia filets served with leeks, shiitakes and ginger, a shellfish bouillabaisse and more. Mary's Fish Camp doesn't take reservations, which can mean long waits during dinner; luckily you can leave your number with the hostess and go grab a drink around the corner. The restaurant itself has a charming, laid-back vibe, like a seaside seafood joint that accidentally got misplaced on a posh West Village street corner. Huge windows let plenty of light into the cozy dining room, which centers around a curved bar surrounded by small wooden tables resting on worn blue tiles.—Keith Wagstaff
