Chef Chai Siriyarn is cooking dependable, lively, slightly Americanized Thai at his two Marnee Thai restaurants in the Sunset; May, his wife and host, mothers her regulars with a brusque, big-hearted affection. The Irving Street regulars love the woven interior and the crush, while the Ninth Avenue location is larger and more comfortable. At either, order the corn fritters, miang kum (a roll-your-own starter), satay wraps, coconut-milk chicken curry with baby eggplants, and the roti with ice cream.

    Order the Pad Kee Mao!!! Do not hesitate! This place is so delicious... mmm I love their peanut sauce! Try their coconut milk!
