Every neighborhood in town wants a Marczyk Fine Foods, a small, upscale market where the service is as choice as the items offered for sale. But for the first decade, brothers Pete and Paul Marczyk and Pete’s wife, Barbara, focused on providing a quality store for the Uptown neighborhood – and everyone driving through. In 2011, though, they branched out with a second store a few miles away on Colfax Avenue, renovated an old hardware store into a garden of good eatin’. As with the original store, there’s an attached wine shop – and the popular Burger Night is offered on Fridays in summer here, too.

Almost a decade after the first Marczyk Fine Foods opened in Uptown, the same crew opened a second store last summer at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Fairfax Street, in a circa 1925 building that had once been a Safeway, then a hardware store.
