Description

The owners of La Rosa Fine Foods, a Spanish gourmet shop, and La Rosa Liquor Store, a Spanish wine shop, decided to put their expertise to good use by opening this tapas spot in Washington Heights. The focus is on the cuisine of Galicia, a region on Spain¹s northwest coast. Not surprisingly, seafood is almost in everything on the menu: seared baby cuttlefish, steamed mussels, imported langoustines and stewed baby squid all make an appearance, while the hearty paellas are packed with shellfish served over saffron-infused rice. Spanish chorizo, cured artichoke hearts and the infamous jamón ibérico (cured ham made from Iberian pigs fed solely on a diet of acorns) are a few of the limited non-seafood options. As for wine, you can expect more than 100 different bottles from all over Spain. The owners spared no expense in going for the rustic, Spanish inn look, with rough-hewn wooden furniture, red brick poking through intentionally distressed plaster and cut-in-half barrels stuck into the walls.—Keith Wagstaff
